MEPCO Tariff Rates 2026 and Electricity Unit Prices

MEPCO Bill Checker helps consumers across South Punjab understand current base electricity rates. This page uses the latest official tariff schedule we could verify. It explains protected slabs, non-protected rates, fixed charges, and Time of Use pricing. You can also compare your tariff code with the category printed on your bill. Final payable amounts may differ because monthly adjustments and taxes apply separately.

Tariff basis: S.R.O. 279(I)/2026, notified on February 12, 2026. The notification modified earlier consumer tariff schedules for XWDISCOs, including MEPCO.

What Are the Current MEPCO Tariff Rates?

NEPRA determines electricity tariffs. The Government of Pakistan then notifies the consumer end schedule.

The rates below are base variable charges. They do not represent the complete final bill. The following residential values follow the notified S.R.O. 279(I)/2026 tariff structure.

Residential Lifeline and Protected Rates

Consumer CategoryMonthly UnitsBase Rate per kWhFixed Charge
LifelineUp to 50 unitsRs. 3.95None shown

Protected1 to 100 unitsRs. 10.54Rs. 200 per kW monthly
Protected101 to 200 unitsRs. 13.01Rs. 300 per kW monthly

Protected residential consumers receive one previous slab benefit. Lifeline consumers do not receive that benefit.

Residential Non Protected Rates

Monthly UnitsBase Rate per kWhFixed Charge per kW Monthly
1 to 100Rs. 22.44Rs. 275
101 to 200Rs. 28.91Rs. 300

601 to 700Rs. 41.85Rs. 675
Above 700Rs. 47.20Rs. 675

Fixed charges depend on sanctioned load and current billing rules. They are not one flat amount for every residential meter.

Why Does My MEPCO Bill Jump After 200 Units?

Crossing 200 units may place your connection under higher non protected rates. One low use month may not restore the earlier category.

Always check the status printed on your current bill. Do not select a category only from memory.

The government has confirmed that support for eligible consumers using up to 200 units continues.

What Is the MEPCO Time of Use Rate?

Time of Use pricing applies to eligible meters. It normally applies to higher sanctioned loads. Electricity costs more during peak hours and less during off peak hours.

TOU DetailCurrent Base Charge
Peak variable chargeRs. 46.85 per kWh
Off peak variable chargeRs. 34.53 per kWh
Fixed chargeRs. 675 per kW monthly

These figures follow the notified residential TOU schedule under S.R.O. 279(I)/2026. Use heavy appliances outside peak hours where practical.

See the MEPCO peak hours and electricity saving guide for seasonal timings.

Agricultural connections also carry a Rs. 2,000 minimum monthly charge. This may apply even when no electricity is used.

Are MEPCO Rates Different in Multan and Bahawalpur?

MEPCO does not normally use separate city prices for the same consumer category.

A Multan household and a Bahawalpur household should use the same notified tariff row. Their category and connection type must also match.

Final bills can still differ because of:

  • Units consumed
  • Sanctioned load
  • Protected status
  • Fuel adjustments
  • Quarterly adjustments
  • Taxes
  • Arrears
  • Previous credits

MEPCO provides access to its official electricity tariff through its consumer service page.

Why Is My Final Bill Higher Than Units Times Rate?

The base unit price forms only one part of your electricity bill.

Fuel Cost Adjustment and Quarterly Tariff Adjustments operate separately from the base tariff. These amounts can increase or reduce the final total.

Your bill may include:

  • Base energy charges
  • Fixed charges
  • Fuel Cost Adjustment
  • Quarterly Tariff Adjustment
  • Electricity duty
  • Applicable taxes
  • Financing cost surcharge
  • Arrears or credits
  • Late payment charges

Use this tariff table for planning. Treat the official bill as the final payable amount.
