MEPCO Bill Calculation Formula
Your total bill includes more than unit charges. It combines consumption, category rates, and mandatory taxes.
Basic Formula
Total Bill = Energy Charges + Fixed Charges + Taxes and Adjustments
In case you’re planning to get a new electricity meter, you can easily apply for a MEPCO new connection through the official process.
Why Does My Actual MEPCO Bill Differ From This Estimate?
This is what every household in South Punjab asks. Here is the honest answer.
This calculator gives you a base estimate. It does not include every charge on your final bill. Four things cause the gap:
FPA (Fuel Price Adjustment): NEPRA recalculates it monthly based on fuel costs at power plants. When oil prices rise, FPA adds to your bill. It is not fixed so no calculator can predict it perfectly.
QTR Adjustment: Applied every March, June, September, and December. If your bill spikes in one of these months, this quarterly tariff adjustment is almost always the reason.
Arrears: Any unpaid amount from last month adds automatically to the current bill.
Estimated meter reading: If your meter was not physically read this month, MEPCO estimates your consumption. That estimate is often higher than actual usage.
No online calculator, including this one, will match your bill rupee-for-rupee. The actual bill always reflects the latest NEPRA adjustments.
Am I a Protected or Non-Protected Consumer?
Protected consumers use 200 units or fewer per month and pay subsidized rates between Rs. 3.95 and Rs. 10 per unit.
Non-protected consumers exceed 200 units and pay commercial rates starting at Rs. 30 per unit.
Cross 200 units once, and non-protected rates apply for 6 straight months even when usage drops back below 200.
Slab boundary warning: If you used 195 units last month, you are 5 units away from a bill jump of Rs. 4,000 to Rs. 8,000. Watch the last week of your billing cycle closely.
